Candidate Evaluation Process

Each year, for every intake of the Master’s Program (MSc), the Departmental Assembly appoints the Candidate Evaluation Committee (CEC), which consists of faculty members from the Department of Economics.
All documents submitted by each candidate are reviewed. If any required document is missing, insufficient, or invalid, the candidate is notified, and their application is rejected.
Candidates who have submitted all the required documents, as stated in the call for applications, are invited to a personal interview before the Candidate Selection Committee. The selection criteria used for candidate evaluation are as follows:
- Undergraduate degree grade (up to 40 points)
- Foreign language proficiency level (up to 5 points)
- Relevance of undergraduate degree to the MSc program (up to 5 points)
- Possession of a second degree (undergraduate or graduate) (up to 5 points)
- Type and extent of professional and/or research experience and/or publications (up to 15 points)
- Interview and recommendation letters (up to 30 points)
The Candidate Selection Committee ranks applicants based on their total score. The final list of accepted candidates is approved by the Departmental Assembly.
Successful candidates are notified by the MSc Secretariat and must confirm their acceptance in writing, via fax or email, within five (5) working days. By accepting their place, they also agree to the program's operational regulations.
Accepted candidates are required to pay a pre-registration fee of €500 within the same timeframe. This amount is deducted from the first tuition installment. In case of withdrawal from the MSc program, the pre-registration fee is non-refundable.
Failure to respond within the given deadline and/or non-payment of the pre-registration fee is considered a refusal of admission. In such cases, the Secretariat contacts the next candidates on the waiting list, according to the ranking order.
All evaluation records are documented in the candidate assessment form, which is attached to the applicant’s file and remains archived in the MSc Secretariat for five years.
